Dr. Gerrian Wuts holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (San Diego) and is a licensed psychologist in the state of California (PSY 19870). She also received a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 1991, and completed a post-graduate diploma course in psychoanalytic theories at the California Psychoanalytic Society.
Cross-Cultural Experience
Dr. Wuts was born and raised in the South of the Netherlands (Limburg). After completing her Doctoral program in Clinical Psychology in the Netherlands she moved to Singapore and worked there as a psychologist for eight years, and established herself as one for the first psychologist in private practice in the country. In Singapore, she obtained extensive experience working as a therapist with the multicultural Singaporean population (Chinese, Indian, Malay, and Eurasian Singaporeans). She provided frequent presentations and was often interviewed by local newspapers, magazines, and news programs. Her experience living and working in Europe, Asia, and the US have provided her with a rich appreciation and unique understanding of diverse cultural and developmental backgrounds.
Dr. Wuts is fluent in English, Dutch, German, and Castilian Spanish. She also speaks a Southern Dutch dialect (Limburgs) and hopes to learn more Mandarin.
Work History
Dr. Wuts' work experience includes inpatient and outpatient hospital, community mental health center, and private practice settings as well as teaching graduates and undergraduates.
Supervisory Experience
Dr. Wuts has worked extensively in administrative and supervisory roles in community mental health centers in California. This includes providing supervision in evidence-based treatments recognized by the State Department of Mental Health. She has supervised pre- and post-graduate Psychology and has worked with seasoned as well as recently licensed therapists. Dr. Wuts is passionate about working with graduate students, training therapists, fostering their professional growth, and helping them achieve and maintain work-life balance.
